COVID-19 Recommendations During Airway Manipulation (INTERNAL LINK - eblast originally sent to members March 13)

CAS is taking the spread of coronavirus very seriously. However, we are confident in our preparedness and we continue to be dedicated to ensuring our members and physicians are well informed and safe.

The understanding of the 2019-nCoV virus is evolving, and the lessons learned from prior infectious disease challenges such as Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) will improve our state of readiness regardless of the number of cases we eventually manage in Canada.

Things to know:

  • Health Canada is currently monitoring the spread of the disease and provides regular outbreak news on their website
  • Currently, Health Canada advises that the potential for transmission in Canada is high. Anesthesiologists caring for patients with 2019-nCoV continue to be at an elevated risk.
  • The predominant mechanism of transmission is contact/drop spread related to respiratory secretions

What is CAS doing:

Due to the evolving situation around COVID-19, the CAS Annual Meeting Planning Team made the decision to move the 2020 and 2021 Annual Meetings to a virtual platform in the best interest of participants and the people we serve. Learn More
