Recognition and management of peri-operative anaphylaxis can be challenging.  Is it anaphylaxis?  Or is it a monitoring issue? A cardiac event? Or just vagal?  In this session, the pathophysiology, triggers, clinical features which heighten the possibility of anaphylaxis, as well as the essentials to managing anaphylaxis will be discussed.

This exclusive session offers a unique opportunity to hear directly from one of the authors of our latest CPD Module - Perioperative Anaphylaxis: An update on pathophysiology, diagnosis, and management, as they walk through the content, share key insights, and answer your questions in a discussion moderated by the Canadian Journal of Anesthesia CPD Editor, Dr Kathryn Sparrow. Don’t miss this chance to connect with the experts and provide your feedback on this important new resource.

After participating in this activity, participants will be able to:

1.  Recognize the clinical features of anaphylaxis to facilitate a prompt diagnosis.
2.  Implement a prioritized treatment plan for anaphylaxis.
3.  Initiate appropriate testing, counselling, and referral to an allergy specialist

This event is an Accredited Group Learning Activity (Section 1) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification program of The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and approved by the Canadian Anesthesiologists' Society. You may claim a maximum of 1 hour (credits are automatically calculated).
